went to the Union Farm Restaurant along Clementi road for its famous Paper-wrap chicken (ji bao gai). it is located in a small obscured plot of land juz before the SIM bus stop. if u are driving there, you gotta be really careful if not u might miss the entrance and have to end up making a U-turn a long way down. and since we made the trip all the way there from Pasir Ris, we cant only eat the Paper-wrap chicken for dinner right? so other than that, we also had stir-fried kailan, fried noodles in oyster sauce, deep-fried squid, black chicken soup and fried rice (pictures in that order). sorry for the not-very-nice pictures, coz we were too hungry so only remembered to take pictures after we were halfway through.

honestly speaking, the food wasn't much to rave about. for the Paper-wrap chicken (different prices for different amounts, more value if u order more pieces), the meat was sweet and tender, and it was cooked till just nice. When dipped with chilli sauce, it brings out more flavour. However, the portions were too small for the price (about $1 per piece), and was pretty oily from the outside. Furthermore, it was pretty hard to remove the chicken meat from the paper juz by using chopsticks and spoons (if u don't want to use your hands), and needs a little bit of patience.
The black chicken soup was pretty good too, just that again, the portion wasn't alot (1/4 chicken for $12 i think). The soup was tasty, probably due to the herbs in it and the chicken itself, and didnt contain much msg so you wun feel so thirsty after that.
The fried squid($10) was not bad too. It was cut into bite-size pieces coated with flour, and fried till pretty crispy. When dipped with the sweet-and-sour plum sauce that accompanied it, it helps to remove abit of the oilyness and gives it abit of 'kick' too.
The rest of the dishes are pretty average only. The kailan($10) and the noodles($6) are just very simply stir-fried and then oyster sauce is poured on it, nothing special. The fried rice($6) is also very simple, something you can find in any eating house. My mum dont quite like the rice though, felt it was too dry and not worth the money.
It is a very old kampong style restaurant, with all the olden crockery, and farm-like place and the works. If you want to avoid a queue, better be there early becoz the area is pretty small, so places are limited.

Pontian Wanton mee (according to the signboard) at a small shop in HMV Heeren.
Supposed to originate from sumwhere else, not sure where is Pontian though.
Me and my friend had a bowl of wanton mee dry each, hers with chilli, mine with black sauce.
The mee wasnt too fantastic, found it kinda dry. But it tasted slightly better when i poured abit of the soup over the noodles to make it wetter. The black sauce tasted like the normal dark soya sauce, but not as salty. The 3 pieces of fried wanton wasnt too bad at first, but when kept in the bowl too long, it slowly loses its crispiness. The rest of the ingredients like char siew, veg and the wantons in the soup were average. But i guess since the portions were substantial enough for a meal, and it costs only $2.80, if you are not too picky about your standard of wanton mee, it can be given a try.
